Amethyst Heart Rings

Welcome to our Amethyst Heart Ring page. Amethyst is February's birthstone and was adopted as such in 1912 by the American National Association of Jewelers. Amethyst is also a suggested gift for the 4th, 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries. It's the most valuable member of the quartz family and rates a 7 on the Mohs scale of gemstone hardness. Up until the 18th century, amethyst was considered a precious gemstone alongside diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald. At that time it was discovered that amethyst was more plentiful than first thought and thus amethyst losts its 'precious' status and was relegated to the designation of a semiprecious gemstone.
