Welcome to our Green Amethyst Heart Ring page. Did you know that, technically, green amethyst is a misnomer? Only the purple version of this gemstone is properly called amethyst. What we know as green amethyst is, in fact, pale color amethyst that is heat treated to produce the beautiful green colors we know as the 'green amethyst.'

Amethyst - whether green or purple - is a variety of quartz and rates a 7 on the Mohs scale of gemstone hardness. It is also considered a semiprecious gemstone and a Type II clarity colored gem. Type II clarity gemstones (this designation includes peridot, ruby, sapphire and others, as well as amethyst) naturally have eye-visible inclusions that are part of their physical characteristics and do not distract from the beauty of the gemstone itself.
